Description: Substantial evidence demonstrates the importance of physical activity (PA) for protecting against cardiovascular (CV) and all-cause mortality, but not all PA is created equally. In fact, higher intensity PA and exercise, which increases heart rate more so than does lower intensity exercise, may have greater effect to improve cardiorespiratory fitness and all-cause and CV mortality. Recently a new technology, Personalized Activity Intelligence (PAI) was introduced as a means to define optimal levels of PA to protect against CVD and all-cause mortality. In this webinar, we will introduce PAI and discuss ways that this can be implemented to optimize PA assessment and improve PA prescription above and beyond that utilized by other techniques (minutes of exercise per week, steps per day, etc). We will also discuss future directions for exercise intensity and PAI in CV protection and prevention.
